DANISH APPLE PASTRY

2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Crisco
1 egg yolk
Milk
1 c. cornflakes
8 to 10 tart apples, peeled cored and sliced about 8 cups
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1 egg white

Combine flour and salt. Cut flour and salt into Crisco. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup of liquid. Mix well. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture. Chill overnight. On floured surface, roll 1/2 dough to 17 x 12 inch rectangle. Line a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch pan with pastry. Sprinkle cornflakes over dough. Top with apples. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.

Roll remaining dough to make top crust. Seal edges of dough. Cut slits in top. Beat egg white until frothy and brush on top crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are done. While still warm drizzle with confectioners' glaze. Cut into bars. Makes about 3 dozen.
