2 c. softbread crumbs or 6 slices white bread
1 1/2 tbsp. melted butter
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
3 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla flavor(optional)
1 tsp. allspice (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
If using bread slices, break up into small pieces.
In a medium size pot heat milk; blend in bread cubes and butter.
In a large bowl combine sugar, salt, raisins and eggs. Blend milk mixture into egg mixture; (add vanilla and allspice here if desired).
Pour mixture into a greased baking dish (glass or Pyrex type).
Place dish in a pan of hot water.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until set.
Serves 6.
NOTE: Bread pudding can be eaten warm or cold.
