1 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/3 c. warm water 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 3 1/2 to 4 c. flour 1 egg 1 tbsp. water Coarse salt Dissolve yeast in water. Stir in sugar, salt and flour gradually until a soft sticky dough forms. Knead 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cut dough in half, then cut each half into 6 pieces. Roll out and form into pretzel shapes. Mix egg and water. Brush on pretzels. Sprinkle with salt. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 425 degrees. Makes 12. |
