7-8 lbs. cucumbers 2 c. pickling lime 2 gals. water 3 tbsp. salt 2 qts. white vinegar 10 c. sugar 1 tbsp. pickling spice 1 tbsp. celery seed Soak cucumbers in lime water for 24 hours. Rinse well. Cover with fresh water and soak for 3h ours. Drain and add vinegar solution. Set overnight. Boil pickles in syrup for 35minutes. Add green cake coloring. Seal in jars. Big yellow cucumbers work best. |
