EASY PICKLES WITH HORSERADISH
 

Pack fresh cucumbers whole in wide mouth quart jars or in any plastic container with tight lid. Add 1 teaspoon alum to quart, also 2 teaspoons salt. Cover with white vinegar and seal. Set in cellar until you want to fix them.

After at least 6 weeks, fix. Drain. Cut in desired shape and put back in jar and add boiling water. Let stand until cold. Drain.

SOLUTION:

2 c. sugar
1 c. water

Bring to boil and pour over pickles until they are covered. Add fresh horseradish. Let stand until seasoned. Very good.
