POOR MAN'S FILLET MIGNON
 

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Combine these ingredients and form into 4 patties 1 inch thick. Wrap a strip of bacon around edge of each patty and fasten with skewer (toothpick). Make a sauce of:

4 tbsp. salad oil
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. vinegar
1/8 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. pepper

Pour into a shallow pan, place patties in sauce and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Turn patties over and return to refrigerator for another 30 minutes. Remove from marinade and grill slowly.
