1 lb. smoked link sausage or hot dogs 1 can (16 oz.) cut green beans 1 c. chopped onion 1 tbsp. bacon drippings or vegetable oil 3/4 c. catsup 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tsp. prepared mustard 1 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke (optional) 2 bouillon cubes 2 1/2 c. cooked rice Cover and cook sausage in 1/2 cup water about 5 minutes. Remove from water and cut in 1 inch pieces. Drain beans, reserving liquid. Saute onions in bacon drippings. Add 1/2 cup bean liquid and remaining ingredients except rice. Simmer 10 minutes. Stir in rice. Season to taste. Cover and continue simmering 20 minutes. Serves 6. |
