BLACKBERRY JAM CAKE
 

Old family recipe. 1 c. butter 3 eggs 1 c. (or more) blackberry jam 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. soda 3 c. all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. allspice 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add jam. Sift together flour, baking powder and spices. Add dry ingredients. Blend together soda and buttermilk until it foams and pour into cake batter. Make sure all ingredients are blended in and pour into 3 (8") cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. I use a good chocolate frosting.
