MAPLE GOLDEN BROWNIES
 

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts (reserve 1/2 c. for topping)

TOPPING:

1 c. packed light brown sugar
1 egg white, beaten stiff

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beat well. Stir in dry ingredients. Stir in vanilla and 1/2 cup nuts. Spread batter in greased 7x12 inch baking pan.

Mix brown sugar, egg white, and 1/2 cup nuts and spread over batter. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes; cool. Cut into squares. To carry, wrap individual squares in aluminum foil.
