1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt or less

COATING:

Mix together:

2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together butter, sugar and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Chill dough for about one hour. Roll dough into walnut size balls. Roll balls in coating. Place balls 2 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies will puff up and then flatten out.
