GLAZED PEAR SHORTCAKE
 

1 (16 oz.) can sliced Bartlett pears in syrup
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 c. whipped cream

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Baking time about 45 minutes. Grease and flour a 8 inch round cake pan. Drain pears, reserve syrup and pat pears dry. Stir flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in bowl; cut in butter with blender until pieces are small. Mix in milk briefly and cinnamon. Spread batter in pan. Place pears on top in a circular pattern, pears should be halfway into batter. Pour some syrup on top and sprinkle cinnamon on top. Halfway through baking time brush more syrup on top of pie and cinnamon if you like. Repeat when pie is done.
