Cream well: 1 1/2 c. sugar

Beat well, add:
Mix: 1 1/2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt
Add to creamed mixture with 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, dissolve 6 tablespoons cocoa powder in 1/4 cup hot water and stir into batter. Bake in two 9 inch greased and floured pans at 325 degrees until done. Ice with favorite icing.
