DIRT CAKE

1 lg. pkg. Oreo cookies
1/2 stick butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
2 (3 1/2 oz.) boxes vanilla pudding (instant/cooked)
12 oz. Cool Whip
3 1/2 c. milk
New 8 inch diameter clay pot
New hand garden spade
1 stem artificial greenery (seasonal theme flowers, Christmas, etc.)

Crush well 1 package Oreo cookies. Set aside.

Part I: Cream together (with mixer), 1/2 stick butter, 8 ounces cream cheese (softened), and 1 cup powdered sugar.

Part II: Mix 2 small (3 1/2 ounce) of vanilla pudding (cooked or instant) with 3 1/2 cups milk (cool if cooked). Mix pudding with 12 ounces of Cool Whip. Mix Parts I & II (with mixer).

Use new 8 inch diameter clay pot. Plug hole and layer cookies and mix. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Before serving, place the artificial stem of greenery/flower in the middle of the cake. The last layer will be the cookies, which looks exactly like dirt. Use the garden spade to serve the dirt cake.

This is fun because you can tell your guests that you did not have time to bake anything so you just brought a centerpiece. They try not to act put out that you did not bring/prepare a dessert and besides the centerpiece isn't very pretty either! After you get someone to "dig" in, they rave about how delicious it tastes. (Best if clay pot is cooled before used.) Serves 10.
