WHITE WEDDING CAKE
 

3 c. cake flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 egg whites

Sift the flour. Measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually. Cream together until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk, stirring only enough after each addition to blend thoroughly. Do not beat. Add vanilla.

Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter until thoroughly blended. Pour into greased layer pans. Bake at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes. When cool, put layers together with the filling and the frosting - plain white frosting.
