MISSISSIPPI MUD CAKE
 

CAKE:

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Stir flour, sugar and salt together in a mixing bowl, set aside. In a saucepan, heat butter, cocoa and water almost to boiling. Pour into dry ingredients and mix well. Mix together buttermilk and baking soda, add to mixture. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Pour batter into a greased and floured 11 x 17 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 bag mini marshmallows
7 tbsp. milk
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1 c. nuts, chopped

In a saucepan, cook and stir butter, milk and cocoa until boiling. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. When cake comes out of oven, top with nuts and marshmallows. Pour hot frosting on cake.
