1 pkg. macaroni shells (1 lb. box sm. size shells) 8 tbsp. butter 8 tbsp. flour 6 c. milk 4 c. American cheese, grated 1 1/2 c. minced onions 2 tsp. prepared mustard 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper Prepare macaroni as directed on package. Drain. In a large saucepan, over low heat, melt butter. Add flour. Cook, stirring constantly 2 or 3 minutes. Do not brown. Stir in milk, cheese, onions, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook until cheese are melted. Mix macaroni shells with sauce mix. Pour into a 5 or 6-quart casserole dish. Bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 12 to 16 people. You may cut this into half of the recipe. Brown slightly. |
