BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
 

1/3 c. raisins
5 thin slices stale bread
1/4 c. melted butter
2 eggs
2/3 c. sugar
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Line bottom of greased pudding dish with raisins. Cut bread slices into 3 strips crosswise. Dip each in melted butter and arrange on top of raisins. Beat remaining ingredients together and pour over bread. Set dish in pan of hot water. Bake in hot (375 degree) oven until bread is browned and a knife blade comes out clean. Serve plain or with whipped cream.
