DATE NUT BREAD
 

Oven, 325 degrees for 1 hour. 1 tbsp. melted butter 1 egg 1 1/2 c. boiling water 1 1/2 c. cut up dates (1 pkg.) 2 3/4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. walnuts 1 tsp. vanilla

Pour the water over the dates; allow to stand 20 minutes. Beat egg; add sugar and melted butter and beat well. Drain water from the dates into the egg mixture. Sift flour, soda, and salt into mixture of egg and water. Add chopped nuts, dates, and vanilla. Pour into 2 bread pans and bake 1 hour in a moderate oven of 325 degrees.
