HERBED BEER BREAD
 

3 c. self rising flour
1 tsp. oregano
12 oz. beer, room temp.
1 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. basil
3 tbsp. cornmeal
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 tsp. thyme
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. butter

In large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cheese and dried herbs. Mix well. Stir in beer to produce stiff batter. Grease loaf pan with shortening and sprinkle with cornmeal. Turn batter into pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 65 minutes. Brush baked loaf with softened butter; sprinkle with additional cornmeal. Turn out and cool on rack.
