WHITE YEAST BREAD OR ROLLS
 

1 pt. water
1 pt. milk
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. warm water
1 lg. yeast cake or 3 pkg. dry yeast
8 1/2-9 c. flour

Heat milk, water and Crisco (hot). Dissolve sugar and salt in mixture. Let cool.

In separate bowl, dissolve 1/2 c. warm water and yeast. Let set until milk mixture is cool. Add to milk mixture. Sift flour and knead on floured board. Let rise 2 hours.

Makes 12 rolls and 3 or 4 loaves. Let rise until double in size. Bake rolls 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Loaves 35-40 minutes at 325-350 degrees.
