CRYSTALLIZED CUCUMBER PICKLES
 

7 lbs. cucumbers, sliced
3 c. household lime
2 gallons cold water
1/2 gallon vinegar
3 lbs. (6 c.) sugar
1/2 box pickling spices (tie in cloth)

Soak cucumber slices for 24 hours in mixture of lime and cold water. Do not use aluminum container to cook or soak pickles. Drain and rinse. Soak 4 hours in clear cold water, changing water every hour. Drain well.

Mix vinegar, sugar and spices. Bring to boil. Pour over cucumbers and let stand overnight. The next day, bring to a boil and let boil 10 minutes. Pack in sterile jars and seal.
