2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk (sweet)
Salt and pepper to taste

Put butter in saucepan, stir until melted. Add flour, salt and pepper. Stir until blended. Pour the milk in gradually, 1-3 at a time. Beat until smooth.
