GRANDMA HANASHIRO'S BEEF TOMATO
 

3/4 lb. boneless round
4 fresh tomatoes
2 stalks celery
1 green pepper
1 lg. yellow onion

BEEF SEASONING:

2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. sugar
1 inch fresh ginger, slivered
1 tsp. sake (optional)

GRAVY:

1/2 c. water
2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. soy sauce

Slice beef into thin strips. Mix beef seasonings together, add sliced beef and let stand 15 minutes. Quarter tomatoes and chop celery as if for salad. Cut peppers and onions into cubes. Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil on wok or large fry pan. Stir fry beef with seasonings until medium rare. Remove from pan. Add another tablespoon sesame oil and stir fry celery, pepper, and onion. When almost done, 5-7 minutes, add tomatoes and beef. Add gravy mixture and bring to boil. Serves 4. Good with rice.
