1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut into 1/2 inch strips
1 env. brown gravy mix
1 tbsp. instant dry onion
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Brown meat in 1 tablespoon shortening. Remove meat from skillet and add gravy mix and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Add meat. Place mixture in a 1 1/2 quart casserole, covered.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Serve over white long grain rice. When using leftover meat, make the sauce and simmer for 40-45 minutes. Add meat and heat through before serving.
