1 c. onion 2 lb. ground beef 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tsp. paprika 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 tbsp. whole pickling spice, tied in a cheesecloth bag 1/4 c. vinegar 2 c. tomato juice 1/4 c. catsup 1/2 c. water 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce Fry onions and beef in shortening or butter. While meat cooks, mix all the other ingredients together and pour over cooked meat. Simmer 1 hour. If mixture becomes too dry in cooking, add a little tomato juice. Use as filling in hamburger buns. |
