DEEP DISH PIZZA
 

DOUGH:

1 pkg. yeast
2/3 c. warm water
1 3/4 - 2 c. flour
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 c. salad oil

PIZZA SAUCE:

6 oz. tomato paste
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Pepper

FILLING:

1 lb. hot pork sausage, can substitute hamburger
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 c. Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. salad oil
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese
Pepperoni slices

Dissolve yeast in water. Add rest of ingredients. Knead about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl and let raise 1 hour.

Cook onion and bell pepper in oil in skillet. Add sausage and brown. Add pizza sauce.

Roll dough to fit cast iron skillet, let drape over pan. Sprinkle 1/4 of Mozzarella cheese on crust. Add half meat mixture and half Parmesan cheese. Add half Mozzarella cheese, remaining meat and Parmesan cheese. Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove and add remaining Mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. Bake 10 to 15 additional minutes. Let stand 10 minutes. Slice and serve.
