HERO SANDWICHES

4 hero rolls (8 to 9 inches long)
1/4 c. mayonnaise or cooked salad dressing
1/2 c. mustard-pickle relish
Crisp lettuce leaves
1/2 lb. thinly sliced boiled ham
1/2 lb. thinly sliced bologna (2-3 inch diameter)
1/2 lb. thinly sliced salami (2 inch diameter)
1/4 lb. sharp American cheese, thinly sliced
2 med. tomatoes, thinly sliced
2 med. onions, thinly sliced
Dill pickles

1. Split rolls, being careful not to cut all the way through. Spread one half of each with mayonnaise--about 1 1/2 tbsp. Spread other half with relish--2 tbsp.

2. Cover both halves of rolls with lettuce. Arrange, in order, on bottom halves: Ham, bologna, salami, cheese, tomato, and onion.

3. Close sandwiches, and fasten near each end with wooden picks. Cut in half crosswise. Serve with dill pickles. Makes 4 sandwiches.
