To a quart saucepan, add: 1/4 c. lemon juice 1/2 c. water 1 pkg. pectin (Sure Jell)
Bring cherries to a boil and mash them. Be sure they are all mashed so they'll absorb the sugar. Add 3 cups sugar. Boil according to directions on pectin package. This will make 3 medium-size jars of jam.
