EGG NOG - PHILLIPS OLD FAMILY RECIPE
 

12 egg yolks
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 quart combination equal parts rum, brandy, bourbon
1 quart heavy whipping cream
2 quart half and half
6 egg whites
nutmeg

Separate yolks and beat until smooth. Blend in sugar, few ounces of the 1/2 and 1/2 then rum/brandy/bourbon followed by whipping cream and remainder of half and half. Add ingredients slowly and beat well to make smooth.

In a separate container, whip egg whites until stiff then mix into batch. Serve cold, sprinkled with nutmeg.

Recommended alcohol mixture: 1/3 quart each of Mount Gay Rum, any good straight bourbon, and Captain Applejack Apple Brandy (any brandy may be used, but avoid cheap flavored grain alcohol types. Applejack is true apple brandy.

Keeps under refrigeration for several weeks.
