MARY'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE ITALIAN STYLE
 

1 1/2 lbs. ground round
1 lg. onion
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce with 2 c. water
1 med. jar Ragu meat flavored spaghetti sauce
1/4 pkg. French's spaghetti sauce mix, Italian style
1 tsp. oregano
1 tbsp. spaghetti sauce seasoning (I use Spice Island brand)
3/4 tsp. ground fennel
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck
1 (32 oz.) can tomato juice
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder or 4 pressed garlic buds
3 bay leaves or 3/4 tsp. ground bay leaf

In a large pot, brown ground beef with onion. Drain well and add garlic, fennel, spaghetti sauce seasoning, oregano, spaghetti sauce and mix. Stir. Add tomato juice, tomato sauce, Ragu and bring to simmering stage; add vinegar, sugar and bay leaf. Simmer at least 3 hours, uncovered; the longer it cooks the better. Serve over spaghetti and top with Parmesan cheese.
