2 c. sugar 1 c. butter 2 c. buttermilk 2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 c. flour 1 1/2 c. raisins 1 1/2 c. nuts 1 pt. pear preserves 1 box dates Cream butter and sugar. Combine dry ingredients, add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk. In large bowl mix raisins, chopped nuts and chopped dates with 1 cup flour. Add to cream mixture. Add pear preserves. Bake at 350 degrees until brown around edges. Makes 2 large layers. ICING: 3 c. sugar 1/2 c. white Karo 3/4 c. butter 3/4 c. Pet milk Boil until mixture begins to turn brown. |
