Some advanced planning is required, but worth the effort! Wonderful Christmas morning breakfast. It bakes as the presents are being opened.

8 slices white bread, remove crusts and place in 9 x 13 inch buttered casserole dish
1 lb. regular bulk sausage, browned
1/2 lb. spicy hot bulk sausage, browned

Drain sausage and layer on bread.

5 lg. eggs, beaten slightly
2 1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
Salt & pepper to taste
Cream of mushroom soup

Mix egg, milk, dry mustard; salt and pepper well and pour over sausage and bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Before baking, spread over the top:

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can button mushrooms, drained or lightly sauteed fresh mushrooms

Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Serves 6 to 8 people.
