TRIFLE
 

2 c. skim milk
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Custard Sauce (can be doubled). 1 pt. strawberries 4 lg. bananas 1 c. heavy cream or Cool Whip 1 pt. blueberries

1. Bring milk to a boil in a medium saucepan. Combine egg, egg yolks, cornstarch and sugar in a separate bowl. Then pour 1/2 hot milk with cornstarch mixture and then pour everything back into original medium saucepan. Cook over low heat until thickened (5-7 minutes). Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Chill at least 2 hours before assembly of trifle is to be done.

2. Assembly of the Trifle: Layer 1/2 of the custard sauce on bottom of bowl. Next add layer of pound cake (you will layer pound cake 3 times so make sure you have enough). Next layer strawberries (around sides and what ever is left over, throw in the middle). Another layer of pound cake. Next layer bananas (around sides and what ever is left over, throw in the middle). Another (and last) layer of pound cake. Next add a layer of blueberries. Then add remaining custard sauce on top of blueberries. Then spread Cool Whip on top. Chill 8 hours before serving.
