1 1/2 c. brandy 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick 1 tsp. crushed cloves 6-8 ripe red or purple plums 2 tbsp. butter Vanilla ice cream Combine brandy and sugar, cinnamon stick and cloves in a deep skillet. Place over high heat and boil. Cook, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat; add plums and cook until soft, 5-7 minutes. Transfer plums to a large bowl. Strain the liquid to remove seasonings. Simmer and reduce 1/2 the amount of liquid to concentrate flavor. Stir in butter, slice plums and arrange decoratively on a plate. Place one scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center and pour brandy syrup over top. |
