BEST BROWNIES
 

1 stick butter
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 scant cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. chopped walnuts

Melt butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat with a wooden spoon for best results. Stir in flour and baking powder. Fold in nuts, if desired.

Bake in greased 8x8 inch pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or so. Do not overbake. Makes 16. Double batch and bake in 9x13 inch pan. These brownies freeze well.
