14 oz. caramels
1/3 c. milk
2 c. Bisquick
2 c. oatmeal (oats)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. butter, melted
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In top of double boiler, melt caramels with milk until smooth.
Meanwhile, mix Bisquick, oatmeal, sugar and butter until crumbly. Press one half into 13"x9" pan. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Spread caramel mixture over, sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Place remaining crumb mixture on top. Press it down gently. Return it to the oven and bake 15 to 20 minutes. Loosen edges immediately. Cool 1 hour and cut into 1" squares.
After 15 to 20 minutes, loosen edges again. Once caramel sets it is hard to get out of pan. Do not be tempted to cut into larger squares for these are very rich.
