2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 egg yolks or 2 whole egg
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
5 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, add sugar, add eggs. Add sour cream alternately with dry ingredients. Add vanilla, chill. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters in desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees. ICING: 6 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. white corn syrup
3 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla extract Ice by dipping top of cookie into icing - dry on wire rack. Directions for icing: Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Blend until moistened. Beat on high until smooth. Add 1-2 tablespoons additional water as needed. Tint with food coloring. |
