BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
 

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg white
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat together butter, shortening and sugar. Add egg white. Beat. Add cream of tartar. Scald milk and add very slowly, blending constantly. Last add vanilla. Ice cake. You may melt and cool 2 to 3 bitter chocolate squares and drip over top of frosted cake for tasty contrast.
