DUTCH CUCUMBERS IN SOUR CREAM
 

2 med. cucumbers
1 lg. onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. water
3/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dillseed
1 to 2 drops hot pepper sauce
Dash freshly ground pepper

Peel one cucumber. Slice both thinly. Combine onion and salt. Stir together water, vinegar, and sugar. Pour over cucumbers and onion mix. Let stand room temperature for 1 hour. Drain well. Cover and refrigerate 3 to 24 hours. Combine sour cream, dillseed, hot pepper sauce and pepper. Cover, refrigerate another 3 to 24 hours. Before serving pour cream dressing over cucumber mix. Toss gently. Serves 6.
