2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 rounded tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg & 1/2 tsp. vanilla Or
1/4 tsp. nutmeg & 1 tsp. eggnog flavoring
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. salt
4 c. flour

Cream sugar, salt, nutmeg and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Combine soda with buttermilk. Add to above mixture. Add vanilla or eggnog. Fold in flour by hand until just blended. Do not beat.
