2 sticks butter
1 2/3 c. sugar
2 c. flour, sifted
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and 5 eggs, cream well. Add 2/3 cups sugar and flour alternately. Grease and flour tube pan or 2 small loaf pans. Bake 45 minutes or 1 hour at 325 degrees. Check with straw or toothpick after 50 minutes.
