BEST EVER DOUGHNUTS
 

4 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
Sugar

Sift together dry ingredients. Beat together eggs and sugar until light. Stir in butter, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. Knead dough lightly on floured surface. Roll out to 3/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry in hot oil, 370 degrees, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Roll in sugar. Makes 24.
