GRANOLA OATMEAL COOKIES

These are cherished old-fashioned cookies with a little difference - you use your own favorite flavor of granola in them. Store the cookies in an airtight tin. They're great anytime, but especially for after-school "milk-and-cookie" snacks. Preparation time: about 10 minutes. Baking time: 10 to 12 minutes for each baking sheet. Oven temperature: 350 degrees.

FOR 5 DOZEN COOKIES YOU WILL NEED:

3/4 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. granola, any flavor
2 c. rolled oats, uncooked
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

1. Cream butter with the brown and white sugars. Add egg, water and vanilla. Beat until creamy.

2. Add granola, oats, flour, coconut, salt and baking soda. Mix until blended.

3. Drop cookies onto greased baking sheet, about 3-inches apart. Use about 2 tablespoons dough for each cookie, making them the size of a small walnut.

4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are evenly browned.

TIPS: For variety, you may add chopped nuts or dates, raisins or chocolate chips.
