BASIC COOKIE DOUGH
 

3 c. sifted all - purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. butter
2 eggs

Measure flour, baking powder and salt into sifter. Cream butter with sugar in large bowl until fluffy; beat in 2 eggs. Sift in dry ingredients, a quarter at a time, blending well to make a stiff dough. Chill 1 hour or until firm. Divide dough into quarters; roll one at a time to 1/8 inch thickness. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 10 minutes. Remove from oven; cool on wire racks. Cut cookies to your own designs.
